S40 1999 1.8 Can't always get into 5Th Gear.

Dear all,

I'm new to Volvo and new to this forum...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1999 S40 1.8 The S2 engine. 50K miles one owner in Scotland probably never been on a motorway. I have had the car about a month and I am very pleased with it....Having been a loyal Toyata Fan for years.

The problem is that I just can't get the gearbox into 5th Gear particuarly when the engine has been off for a little while. If I jiggle around with it and eventuarly get it in it may be okay for the rest of the journey...Still stiff but a little easier. The rest of the gears are fine and very smooth,

Any Ideas...could it be clutch?
