I am a shadetree mechanic, helping a friend replace her cloudy & "age cracked" headlight housings. I found some new (non Volvo) housings thru rockauto & ordered them. They arrived & look & fit beautifully. After a few days, the drivers side low beam quit working. I pulled the mounting pins/ Stakes & checked the main electrical plug...sure-enough, it was loose. So I pushed it into place, It made a positive "click" and the low beam worked! Checked the Hi-beams...no good. Removed the plug connector and...ONE OF THE (THREE) PINS WAS BROKEN OFF ! ! !
Question: Can I replace the individual pins? Do I have to get the plug? Is there an aftermarket source, or strictly Volvo?
OK, Here is what I found. The pin was NOT BROKEN ! (YAY) Apparently, it was pushed in to the plug ! Because it was flush with the surface, I assumed (yah, I know) it was broken off. I was able to reach my fingers around, (Inside of the housing) to the back side of the plug, and push the pin up enough to grab it with some needle nose pliers, and re-seat it.
Embarrassing? Yes. But if it helps someone else...Great
