C70 hpt accelerates erratically

Post by c70_lindsay »

Recently when I accelerate from a dead stop the car doesn't have as much punch as usual. Theres no sputtering or hesitation it just seems to lack power if I depress the gas even slightly more sometimes it rev's up to 4000rpm and takes off like a rocket. It seems like turbo lag thats 3 times worse than usual. I'm leanin towards it being the tcv but I have no boost gauge to confirm this. Any suggestions?

What octane gas are you using? My car gets SLOW on 90+ degree days if I run the AC and don't use 93 octane. Normally, it's pretty peppy, but you've really got to bury your foot in the gas to get the turbo boosting up at 3000+ RPM on those days.

I have the same issue with my C70 at the moment too. I have a boost gauge in mine and it sits where it should (10-11psi) so it must be something to do with timing. I have an IPD HD TCV valve but it did the same thing with the stock one. It has been suggested to me that the O2 sensor might be the issue, I'm just waiting on one to arrive so I can test it.

Check your Hoses...especially the big one on top of the radiator...I had the same issue after I replaced my radiator...I failed to tighten the clamp and it came loose and I lost power and codes popped up.....tightend it down and problem went away!!!

Hope this helps!!
