S90 - what to ask indie mechanic about problem areas?

Post by dcvh »

Hi all

I just bought 1997 S90 $1975 117405mi
Body and exterior excellent
AC not working
Running OK so far

I'm taking car to indie Volvo mechanic in 3 days and need advice on what to ask him to check for...possible problem areas.

Also trying to find a repair manual...Haynes, Chilton's or other

The bushings on the rear of front control arms are a weakness. They aren't expensive but use Volvo parts. I have used other and they are less money but last half as long.
The floor side of the floor defrost vacuum servo and the recirculation air door on climate system are prone to leak and cause air to diver to defrost on acceleration and hill climb.
It is getting close to an age where the radiator may need to be replaced due to the upper neck cracking or one of the end tanks leaking.
Timing belt needs to be verified as having been changed as it is a 70K mile interval item
The list on that car is pretty short.
