Volvo Air Conditioning Specialist in Orlando/Kissimmee?

Post by Orlando 1993 »

After striking out with two local shops I'm now looking for a third shop to fix the AC in my 1993 960.
The compressor was replaced ($600), seemed to working fairly well --not great but better than nothing.
Now the problem seems to be that the cold air just isn't getting into the cabin. The local shop won't guarantee the fix (they mention a $300 estimate) so I'd rather get a third opinion from someone who knows these AC systems.
The car is needed to transport a senior citizen with a heart condition so with 100 degree heat the car can't be used.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

There are two different vacuum diaphragms on that climate system that can leak as well as something simpler like a broken vacuum line in engine compartment.
The recirculate diaphragm and the floor/defrost diaphragm are the two that need to be checked.
Another problem that can give your symptoms is a bad solder joint in the vacuum solenoid bank that is on the passenger side under the climate case.

Try these guys:

Maitland Imports
1008 West Church Street
Orlando, FL 32805
(407) 425-0545

Its a father and son owned business and they replaced my AC last august.
Cant say it was cheap, however these guys specialize in volvo's and Cooper Minis.
Volvo is their primary bread and butter. I used them for repairs that I could not do myself and that I wanted done right by a familiar person to the volvo brand when I lived in Orlando. In the 7 years I lived in Orlando, they only saw my car maybe 6 times.

Last year for $about $900 I got full service AC replacement which included:
New AC compressor, new accumulator/dryer, new expansion valve, complete flush and conversion/retrofit to r134 a and they guarantee their work.

They are located in the lovely Paramore district, but they are reputable, honest and on the money. Like I said, not cheap, but they know volvos and they come in less than "The Volvo Store" in Winter Park.

There is anothr independant volvo shop in Winter Park called Cech Brothers. For me, when I lived in St Cloud, they were further than Maitland in the downtown area. I never used Cech Brothers but I hear they are good as well.

Cech Brothers
1601 Minnesota Avenue
Winter Park, FL 32789-4624
(407) 628-8699

Give them both a shot and the best of luck to you.

thanks for the two shops, I have to replace my a/c compressor and I was looking where to take to without going to the dealer and this helps. I was told about a repair shop in winter park but they told me Checkers and I could not find anything like that, turns out it was Chech Brothers. Thanks again.
I will let you know how it turns out.
