Lazy Cruise Control / 95 850 GLT NA Auto

Post by Da' Moose »

OK, I have looked though the Search on this page, with no problem like mine.

I have a 95 850 GLT NA, Auto Trans, with a problem with my Cruise Control. It works but it is lazy, when I set it will lose 5mph or so, and if I try to do anything like Accel or Coast or even Resume it will lose 5mph once more, and so on. Once I get it set to the speed desired it will run for miles with out a hitch as long I do not touch the controls or brake petal. If I need to kick it off to fight traffic, I will need to turn off the power to the cruise and reset it to set it once more.

I just made a cross-country trip and had some 2500 miles to fight or play with it. I have had the car for 6 months and driven it for the last 6000 miles. No codes and the cruise has acted the same for the time I have owned the car. I got 27mpg on the freeway and the car runs great for 118k miles.

Has anyone had a Lazy Cruise Control and what did you do about it?!?!?!?!?

If I recall there is a cable ajustment located beside where the throttle cable is attached.

Jot,

Adjust the cable? I am just trying to understand the thinking behind this move. If the computer is controlling the traveling speed, would it not just kick in more throttle to manage traveling speed to the speed set? Not the speed it thinks I set it to.

My car will maintain a speed once it is set -5mph. To travel 80mph I need to get to 85mph
