No speedometer past 45

My speedo works great between 0-45mph, it wont go past that though. Ive read about the sensor in the rear diff causing issues. Is that the place to start ? My cruise and everything else works fine.

Do you have cruise above 45?
Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

sounds to me like a problem with a gear in your gage, if it gets to a certain point then stops, im not very familiar with the dash box though.
