Flushed power steering, what went wrong? '90 740

90 740 wagon 271K. I flushed the power steering system using the following method. Disconnected the return hose to the PS fluid reservoir and drained the fluid through an extension hose into a bucket with engine running. As fluid was sucked into PS pump I kept dumping new type F ATF fluid into the reservoir. My wife was turning the wheels from side to side to maximize flush. When fluid began to run red, I cut the engine and topped off to the specified level.

So, I now notice that when I do left hand turns there is some pulsating in the PS system, as if all is not well. Right turns no problem. I have been driving it and checking the fluid level each time. No variation in fluid level. I am wondering if there might be air in the system or...? It steered better when the fluid was black!

It will fix itself, There is air in the fluid. After engine is off for an hour a lot of the air will come to the top. Then after it is run for a bit and sits engine 0off one more time it is usually all good.
