s40 radio problems

Post by kmacdonald »

I had to jumpstart my 2001 volvo s40 the other day, and afterwards, it asked for a radio code. I stupidly tried a few codes (before looking up the the actual code) and now the radio just says "off". Would disconnecting and reconnecting the radio fix the problem? Or do I need to call the service number?[/i]

When I asked if disconnecting the RADIO would work to fix the problem, I actually meant the BATTERY.

Call the service number. They have an "over-ride" code for that. I would also, disconnet the battery, it just might reset that on the radio and save you a phone call.

I am not sure, that my advice will work on S40 ... but it worked on my S70'98 with SC 813 stereo. The dealer told, that I have to turn on radio and keep it that way for at least 2 hours. The "OFF" message disapeared and it was possible to enter the right code again.

p.s. Unfortunately code I got from dealer didn't worked... it appears, that radio in my car has been changed. Therefore I decided to change head unit.
