Opinions on 1999 S80 T6

I bought a new 1999 S80 T6 in May of '99 and have spent $7,480 on repairs and maintenance, that is an average of $166 per month. Is this normal or do I have a lemon on my hands. And what's up with the costs my dealer charges for computer upgrades?!

I have a '99 S80 T6. I have spent only $300 on it since I have had it.
Seems to me that the cars from '99 were either very good or very, very bad...... :(

I also must vote with bajaman... my dad's 1999 S80 has been repair free. Recalls are another story, but I'm not aware of any repairs he's had to perform.

Like bajaman, I've also read of some 1999 models having many problems.

Also have a 99 S80 and so far it's had about 3500$ in repairs. They've all been covered by my "certified used volvo" warranty... but still, seems like a lot.

I just bought a 1999 S80 T6 used. It has 53,000 miles on it and so far it has been great. I am concerned however about some of the things I have been reading about this model. How concerned should I be? Are they really that unreliable? If so, how does my pre-owned certified warranty hold up for repairs? Please let me know a little about the 1999 model. I ran a VIN history and the car was clear, but that probably doesn't mean much. Thanks for your help! ~Lilly

I left the dealer not so long ago....(2 1/2 months)

Eversince the S80 has come out....there has always been problem with these following....

Leaking oil (Turbo return pipe seals and Breather Box seals)

Suspension noises (mostly from poor design of the Subframe bushings....there are big orings that you can put around the rear subframe busings to cure the noise.......ALSO ....if I may add...broken strut mount bushings, upper enging mount, and worn out link rods....)

Ticking noise (from oil pump pickup seal inside the oil pan....don't let any shop tell you its from the lifters.....REPLACE THE OIL PICKUP SEALS!)

Geezzz....there are so many more problems I can spend all day to list them.... :D

Just speaking from my own experience...

Dave

The volvo S80 1999 is the worse junk I have ever owned. I have had a new transmission at 23k, new radiator, front stuts repalced, problems with radio, gasket leaks and an am radio that barely works. The car is junk and volvo knows it but does nothing for customer loyalty.
