850 leaking tranmission fluid - which seal do I need?

Post by robk46 »

Just looked under my daughters wrecked 850, and the transmission is leaking fluid from the weep hole in the bell housing. What seal could have given up? It's drivable, and shifts fine with no issues. I want to order new seals prior to my engine swap.

Probably just the torque converter seal. Not sure what it's called on this car. The car took a 50mph hit to the drivers side front, directly to the top of the wheel. Axle seals aren't leaking, so it's got to be the oil pump/torque converter seal.

Yep, also called the Front Transmission Seal or the Transmission Pump Seal, sealing the torque converter. Volvo Part #9495017. It is standard to replace that any time the trans is out, because there is easy access and they do wear out.
