A/C problem with my 1986 240 DL
i have a 1986 240 dl, and the air conditioning compressor has failed, inorder to replace the unit it would cost about 800 dollars. so what i have done is, disconnected the belt to the A/C, how ever by doing so, i have to go with out power steering, because the power steering belt runs off of the A/C unit. I have heard that it is possible to bypass the A/C with a belt that runs striaght to the power steering, but i am not sure how. so if anyone has any ideas, id be very greatful to hear them. thank you.

I would suggest you put the belt back on the p/s pump and A/C compressor, then disconnect power to the A/C compressor clutch. Just follow the power wire from the A/C compressor (green) until you find a connector to disconnect. That way, you can have your power steering without major alterations or conversions.
