Fuel leak in line immediately after leaving the gas tank

Post by Cyman »

I had to remove my fuel pump assembly today. everything was going well until I got things put back together. now for some reason one of the clips that attach a fuel line to the top of the fuel tank is leaking. I'm worried that I pinched/damaged an O-ring inside the connector.. it seems to be quite the proprietary part as I can't find it on any of the common online parts websites. anyone familiar with the assembly have any suggestions?

If you have the pieces intact you should be able to buy them at any chain auto parts store. Let them know it is for fuel and they normally have a box of assorted sizes - just pick the one that matches.

Since they are really dirt cheap I buy the size I think will fit and then a size bigger and a size smaller since it costs more in gasoline to get back to the auto parts store than it does to just throw the ones I don't need away.

for those of us that aren't made of money  i keep a small collection of o-rings for various uses (plumbing, auto ...)

if you can't find what you are looking for at the autoparts store check the nearest plumbing supply - they will likely have a package of various sizes
