That does seem slow. Do you have the tranny in the S mode?

A GLT ain't gonna do it in 6 seconds. 8.something's about normal for those. The 6.5 you saw is for a 5-speed T5 model.

"S" and "E" modes don't matter a bit with your foot all the way down - it's going to shift at the redline either way. I hate sport mode and almost never use it.

A T5 auto is around 7 seconds stock as I remember the numbers. My 200,000+ mile bone stock T5 (236 hp vs your 190) will do it in 8, which isn't half bad for a 13-year old car if you ask me.

With the GLT, you do have the advantage that it's not a total slug until 20-30 mph like the T5 is.

With an ECU reflash, you can easily get a lot more usable power out of your current setup. If you want to go for a turbo and exhaust on top of the ECU upgrade, you can turn that car into T5-like speeds, but keep in mind that pep your car has from a stoplight will be GONE when you upgrade the turbo like you can see in mine below (the 5-cyl engines are of relatively small displacement and have nothing for torque without the turbo there to back it up). It won't even do so much as chirp the tires on a flat-to-the-floor takeoff on dry pavement.

Sorry about the music, but it's the only video I've got from 0. It was turned really low, but apparently the phone wanted to pick that up more than anything else since it was facing the door speaker.

If your compression ain't cracking, your times won't be either. Do a compression test, then use some treatments to increase it.

An example may be Seafoam to unstick piston rings or perhaps one or more of your valves don't seat. If compression is low a wet test will determine the next course of action.

High 160's-180 would be a healthy 2.3 engine. I believe the 2.4's like you have will have slightly higher numbers.

Some cheap gauges will be off by as much as 30 psi, so if your numbers are low but consistent across the board, don't worry too much about it.

Remember to do the test on a warm engine, unplug the injectors, hold the throttle plate wide open, and take the highest reading of 3+ cranks.

so, as i understand it, this will put stress on my starter and battery. also, the numbers would have to be low across the board, because the engine runs smoothly. (albeit with a CEL and idling from 800-100, A/C off) i have not "tuned" the ipd HD tcv, may this be the problem? i also hear a fluttering sound at above 2300 rpm or so. it goes away close to 3k. i have replaced the CBV with ipd's HD one. i am lost. i cant scan it, because i dont have a scanner. i have done:
cap n rotor
plugs
fuel filter
ipd tcv and cbv
silicon vacuum lines
Cleaned MAF
and i did Seafoam not to long ago (1/3 gas, oil, and intake)
i did change the oil after, but the new filter was threaded and spilled oil ALL over my driveway, so i just put the old one on.
cleaned PTC valve (soaked in nearly boiling water+soap and sprayed with maf cleaner, and i put the tube threw the dishwasher)
however, there is a rip in my air filter, but it closes when it compressed, like in the air box. although it is quite big, and theres two D: but i dont think that would be causing my problems

i would like to sort out the fluttering. im sure im decribing it completely wrong, so maybe i should upload a video?
