engine code 0102

Post by larryvolvo98 »

Hello:
I have a 1998 s70 GLT w 176K and a automatic.
Last week my car would not start I had it towed to the local repair man who pulled a code 0102 Air fuel meter low reading.
So I put a new one in and have had to reset the computer 3 times with the same code coming up. Has anyone had this problem and in which direction should i look as a possalbe cause.
Thanks :D

Hi

I'm running into a similar situation
I'm getting these codes:
* P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
* P1237 turbo control system flow fault
When it happens, my cruise control does not work (essentially my acid test to do a quick diagnostic while on the road).

P1237 is quite common... either a air leak/boost leak, a sticking boost control valve, or issues with the hoses going from the intake to the valve to the wastegate. I'll have to check it.

Not sure about P0102 though.

Will be waiting for feedback on this code too.

P0102 probably means either:
a) There's a hole in your air hose
b) Mass airflow sensor is bad. Please don't buy the parts store rebuilt ones - they just don't work. You'll need to get either an OEM Volvo or Bosch replacement. Lots of online vendors sell them.

Btw, a P0102 will cause a P1237 since the car is unsure of how much air it's actually getting.

Cool.
I'll have to inspect the air intake over the weekend.
While inspecting, should I attempt to clean the Airflow sensor?
Did this a couple of years back... and I think I still have the cleanning can somewhere...

Go for it. I've never got it to work for the 2 I've had die on me outright, but it's worth a shot.
