Anyone have a favorite Christmas music album they'd recommend to others?
Honestly I can't stand the crap they play on the radio. Choir and traditional carol music just gets old to me. Among my favorites are Mannheim Steamroller (particularly the 1984 Christmas and 2001 Christmas in the Aire album), Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Michael Buble's Christmas album. Jazzy stuff, if you will.
I don't know if any of you have heard the GRP Christmas albums (back from the 80's again), but they are a Christmas tradition for my family and there's lots of good music on there.
I recently discovered Sufjan Stevens has a Christmas album - so that got me wondering if there were others I was missing out on.

I like the Carpenter's Christmas album, but only because I like The Carpenters. For the most part I can't stand Christmas music.
I agree, they've been playing the same shit on the radio before I was born. But, I will spend the day with my kids watching Christmas specials on the tube, if they let me. They did watch The Smurfs Christmas special today, which kind of blew me away some. They didn't go for that Frosty the Snowman show they've been playing since the 50's...my kid said it was fake. Kind of disappointed me to hear him say that, but he is correct.
