Which turbo boost gauge to buy?

Post by matthew1 »

For my '97 850 T5, when I install a manual boost controller.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

1998 V70, no dash lights on

1997 850 T5 [gone] w/ MSD ignition coil, Hallman manual boost controller, injectors, R bumper, OMP strut brace

2004 V70 R [gone]

I use the VDO Vision series. They look stock and I was able to get the backlighting to match pretty closely to the rest of the dash.

Rob, thanks for the reply. That looks super well done, very classy*. I'm still rocking my 816 factory radio, so no room down there -- I'll probably mount the gauge on the dash.

I'm thinking I'll just pop for this Auto Meter "Phantom" (mechanical) unit with the fitting kit. Snake the hose down through the firewall and onto an unused nipple on the vacuum tree and I'm done.

* It is kinda low though. Do you ever find yourself looking down at your boost and taking your eyes off the road?

It's not too bad, I really only look at the gauge when something doesn't feel right. I have considered moving the gauges to above the radio. I think I'll do that tomorrow.
