Parts failure poll for P2 generation: let's do it right

Post by matthew1 »

Let's do the same thing as with the new 850 [and siblings] poll: let's do it right. We're going to start from scratch (sorry Dan) with every failure we can think of, up to 100 of them. You'll be able to vote on all 100.

If you have two P2 cars, the only way to vote for one failure twice is to create a second MVS account, then log in under that one and vote. Or three, or four, etc. It's not a problem from my perspective if it's not one from yours. The only catch is you need to use a different email account than the one you used for your current MVS account.

So far we have
  • Front/rear wheel bearing
  • Tie rods
  • Sway bar links
  • Control arm bushings
  • Lower ball joints
  • Upper Engine mount
  • Transmission (including software upgrades)
  • Radiator leak
  • Gas tank pressure sensor
  • Siren control module
  • Vacuum pump/vacuum switch
  • Engine cooling fan
  • Climate control fan
  • Anti-Skid Service Required, Yaw sensor
  • Brake cylinder position sensor
  • Exhaust pipe hanger broken (rusted)
  • Front window mechanism, slider or switch
  • Driver side - cover of seat controls broken
  • Door whether strip detached
  • Fuel pump
  • Rear latch mechanism
  • PCV system
Suggested already to add:
  • rear main seal replacement
  • delaminated shoe on the parking brake mechanism
  • defective lower ball joint
  • premature lightbulb/bulb socket failures
  • steering rack replacement
  • the turbocharger (whole thing)
  • gas door hinge
  • cup holder
Please suggest failures until your head explodes, or it's 5pm and time to leave the office, whichever comes first. I'm going to disable voting on this current poll. Results from this current poll will not be carried into the new one, unfortunately.

Hi Matt,

I have this idea which I am almost sure you will say that is too complicated to implement in a poll, but at least please give it a thought:
Would be really nice to have the failure mileage included in this poll, that way we should know not only what to expect but when.
The way I think this is possible is to create for example 5 columns or more, each column for a range of 20k miles (0-20; 20-40; 40-60; 60-80; 80-100, etc.) So when somebody votes for a certain part they have to put the vote in one of these columns.
What do you think?

Thanks,
Dan.
P.S. If you need any help with this poll (with or without mileage) please let me know.
Dan

One not in here (don't know how common but was a problem w/ my wife's '04 V70):
Camber adjustment not possible on front end...requiring camber bolt kit...said it was due to "settling" or sagging of front end although front struts and related parts are all in good shape. Don't know how to word this problem exactly.
