Catalytic converter(s)/Manifold

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Catalytic converter(s)/Manifold

Post by Jlrawlins »

My wife owns an 02 s80 non-turbo. Yesterday, while driving, her car lost most all power, ran rough and sounded horrible. Had it towed to the local shop and was told in needed new catalytic converters and manifold. Is it logical and/or normal that all of these components would need replaced? Can someone tell me what is involved in this repair? The car is 10 years old and I don't really want to sock $3300 into it if I don't have to.

I would certainly get DTC codes read and ask a second opinion from another shop or even a dealer. But start by getting diagnostic codes. (DTCs)
