OSRAM 65W (off road) bulbs VS GE Nighthawks with pics!

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

OSRAM 65W (off road) bulbs VS GE Nighthawks with pics!

Post by huzzsaba »

Car: 1999 Volvo V70 T5 with stock headlamps

I am one of those who went from standard bulbs to hids and then back. I ditched the hids because I knew right away that it was annoying others.

I replaced the hids with ge nighthawk platinums (suppose to be brighter than the regular nighthawks)but was not very pleased with them. In all fairness though, going from hids to the nighthawks and not liking it was obvious but I knew there was something better out there.

After much searching, I thought of trying these 65W OSRAM off road bulbs, and I was pleased with the increased light output. The glare seems almost the same as the nighthawks gave off so I think its safe to say they wouldnt bother anyone on the road. After 2 days of having them on, no complaints from anyone and they are definately brighter and half the price of the nighthawks and definately cheaper than the silverstars.
below is the ebay link of the bulb i bought......

Here are photos of the nighthawks vs OSRAM. From the photos, they look to be very similar output but in reality the OSRAMS are brighter.

Hi,

After a few weeks, I am still happy with them and definately a better light output than other bulb i have tried with the exceptions of HIDS. And no issues with oncoming drivers. The off road part doesnt really matter i think because side by side comparison with the hids, they look just like a normal halogen bulb and without seeing the package, you wouldnt even know they were off road bulbs.
