Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

99 S80 T6 Radiator 2.8L

Post by mrsmitty »

Hello, I feel like a certified Volvo mechanic after all the stuff I have replaced but something won't let me dump this car! Now I'm trying to replace my radiator but cannot find anything in the repair database. I started out by attempting to remove the metal shroud that stretches over the radiator/intercooler but I can't event seem to get it removed. It looks like I need to remove the bumper just to get a good look...or lift the car and take it out from the bottom. Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.

Okay...so well on my way with this. After looking at it from below the radiator I have made some forward progress. So far:
1. Disconnected intercooler to intake hose and various wires/plugs from electric fan.
2. Pull 2 upper bolts on fan and lifted out through top.
3. Broke both plastic locks on the transmission lines pulling them out. Use an oil pan below to catch tranny fluid.
4. Removed 4 mounting bolts on radiator (2 upper/2 lower). Unfortunately, the lower passenger side snapped in the middle of the threads, even after a little liquid wrench.

To be continued...
