fuel leak

Post by mitchellbd »

Hi
I have a 2002 v70xc and also a fuel leak.
I think the leak is where the hoses go into the tank but I'm not sure where that is.
In fact it looks like my car has 2 tanks. The one in the drivers side has an access panel
but under it is what could be a pump but has no hoses just some thin wires I think could be
for the gauge or computer. Is there a second access plate or do I need to drop the tank?

Hi Mitchell,
The fuel pump and tank level sensor are accessible from the top (no need to drop the tank). The pump is on the right side under a similar access panel. There is a strict procedure that calls for draining the tank and a special tool to detach the pump.

You want to check first with the stealership if you are still eligible for the recall on the fuel pump with those symptoms. (I think the warranty on the FP and the O-ring was extended to 10 years, but its best to give them a call).
Hope this helps.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
