98 V90

Post by rmmagow »

I'm a V70 owner looking at a 98 V90. This a decent Volvo? Does it have an I6 motor? Reliable, ie as decent as a 940/960? RWD, how is it in the snow? MPG compared to Turbo V70 AWD? I'm keeping my V70 and am thinking to give it to my wife and get the V90 for me.
PS, I'm not afraid to work on cars.

The V90 is a re-badged 960 using the same engine and drive train. RWD cars can be tricky in snow but I would choose one every time against a FWD and am still looking for one to replace my 850. They can be thirsty beasts but when I had my very early 960 I could get over 30mpg on long runs. Town driving would see that drop to 20 - 25mpg.

Well, I can always put a nice set of 4 snow tires on it. My other regular cars are a RWD Mazda 929 and an old diesel MB. They aren't great in snow but reasonable with good snow tires. MPG should work for me as I'll be doing 100 MPD highway commute. Looks like I might own a "brick".
