puff of smoke

Post by guest »

I've got a 95 850 turbo. If I leave it running for a few minutes and then go to put it in gear and take off it will blow one quick puff of smoke. This is the only time it happens. It doesn't do it when driving or when I start it. Only after sitting and idling for a few minutes. The front O2 sensor is bad and will be replaced shortly-could this be a cause of it? Any other ideas? I've been a lurker here for awhile and have found this site to be a wonderful reference. Kudos to you Matthew!!

Sounds like a valvetrain issue. I would have a compression/leak down test done to determine if that is indeed the cause.

blow by from the turbo...mine does the same thing and will do this until its rebuilt. if you have high miles you may be experiencing cylinder blow by as well.
