Timing belt water pump idler tensioner HEPU AISIN

Post by LamboSE5 »

Hey everyone.

I don't know if there is a forum to discuss brands. I'd like to get other's opinions on brands for certain parts, but I'm not sure where to post that.

Right now I'm mulling over on timing related parts; the ones offered by FCP. For example: tenioners/idler pulley. There is Genuine Volvo, Ruville, and GMB from what I see. That's in order of cost from highest to lowest. Though the Ruville is not listed as OEM replacement under "brand" or "quality" I guess, and it's over double the price of the GMB one which IS listed as OEM replacement...

Any thoughts on this? Experiences? "Don't buy that!" or "Only buy this" from the members?

Thanks.

All of my tensioners/rollers were INA parts.

I bought the genuine kit. That ain't something I'd ever try to save a few $ on.

I just made an order; the OEM minor kit: Gen. Volvo belt, older, tensioner. And bought the Aisin water pump, with gasket and bolts. Apparently Aisin is OEM. And is less than half the price of the "Gen. Volvo" one.

I need a CAM locking tool. IPD's is 29.95 - and their shipping is 34.00 (BEFORE customs and duties), what a joke. Shipping is 7.90 for Americans on that same order. Ridiculous!

The TB kit I ordered was a blue box, volvo kit. The roller says INA, and the tensioner just has a sticker that says "made in france". So Nick at FCP was correct about that anyway.
