My preferred selve-serve import yard was closed saturday for winter hours so I tried a new yard.
If you look at the satellite view below you can see a massive area of salvage cars in Buffalo NY. Its next to a rail yard where they haul off the shells. 3 of the 4 adjoining yards are all store centric and you can not browse the yard - everything good is pulled and warehoused so their prices, frankly, are too high for salvage parts. The 4th, however, is self-serve and very cheap. It is there that I went this morning, looking for some parts for my daughter's 850.
They were pretty thin on Volvo inventory but I did see a few things that might be of interest. They had (from memory):
- red 850 wagon, tan leather interior. Pretty rough interior, minor front end damage
- blue 850 wagon, fire totalled (kinda used to be blue)
- tan S80, tan leathe interior. Interior was in pieces but had extensive wood trim everywhere
- black s70, black interior. Front accident. The spoiler, trunk lid and entire rear were pristine - even the paint looked new.
- blue V70XC, tan interior. looked intact.
- XC70, brown, black interior
One of the cars (sorry I cant be more specific) had a gorgeous grey leather intereio in fantastic shape. Only a touch of wear on the driver's seat.
