Part out '97 850 base Wagon with only 75k miles

Post by robk46 »

My daughter decided to see how safe Volvos are by pulling out in front of a minivan after I spent over 5k on the car and only drove it for 3 months. I have given up trying to find a decent car with a blown motor in my local area to do a swap, so I've decided to get rid of it. I'm heartbroken but glad she wasn't hurt. :(

Brand new parts that can be shipped (not a total list):

Reman Alternator - $100 (paid $200. Still under warranty with receipt)
Rear shocks (KYB) - $50 (Still have receipt from rockauto)
Lots of other little parts

Other parts:
Engine w 75k Miles - $250
Transmission w 75k Mile - $250
Lots of other things.

Everything works on the car, it still runs but the unibody is damaged beyond repair and the dash and hard plastics in the interior took a beating. A/C is ice cold, all electronics work, engine runs strong (needs valve seals), tranny shifts perfectly. If you're in Central/South Florida and want to come pick parts off of it, I'm open to that too. I have all the tools necessary to pull anything you want besides an engine hoist. So if you want the motor/tranny I can arrange to have a hoist here for a fee, or bring your own.

Tan leather interior. Driver's seat has a wear through area on the leather. Passenger seat cushions are fine. I'll post pics in a minute. Has a very nice leather steering wheel I just put on right before she wrecked it as well.

Sorry to hear about the accident - That looks like it was a nice little wagon.
But very happy that your daughter is OK! That's why you put'em in a Volvo...
Best of luck with the sale. Give her a wrench and get some help! :D

Yeah, probably same condition as mine. It has a wear through also.
OK, how about the Engine Skid Plate (otherwise called Engine Plastic Shroud). Is it in good condition?
I was going to get one for my car...Let me know.
Thanks,

Manual Climate control? or Electronic?
If MCC I'd be interested in the knobs, and faceplate.
Also, the little insert next to the demist, and sunroof buttons.
Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

So, other than cosmetics, why get rid of it?

It doesn't look that bad. I'd let her drive it with the rear crushed in (she earned that!). Another Front fender will easy to come by...I'd paint it with Rustoleum, and call it done...The wheel is also an easy find. Any damage to the actual frame? The suspension components can be found pretty easy.

I'd make her help (scrub down/ clean the new parts, stay there to hand you wrenches, etc.) It will give her ownership in it.

Craigslist will turn up most everything you need! If I was down there, I'd snap up that engine and transmission to put under a tarp in my garage.
