vacuum line questions

Post by ronzara »

I notice 2 vacuum line coming off my FUel Pump Regulator. I see on a diagram that one is suppose to go to one of the nipples on the front of the manifold and the other goes where? Is it the fresh air tube near the MAF?
I thought the middle line from the Turbo Boost Solenoid goes there!?!?

The diagram is pretty vague on this.

Also, I have noticed the vacuum line that connects to the passengers side of the manifold (behind the upper radiator hose) is missing.
Where does this line go/or come from?
Again, the diagram just says T-Pipe/PVC, which loses me, because I believe the line goes over near the air box, but the PVC is under the intake manifold?? :?

Yes. There are two ports on that intake hose.

Understood... Only problem is the vacuum diagram I found is showing 3 or 4 lines going to that tube... Do I need to by some T fittings?
Says these lines go to that tube:
1. Line from the fuel pressure regulator
2. A check valve from beside the radiator
3. The turbo boost solenoid
4. Possibly the hidden nipple on the passengers side of the manifold. (under the upper radiator hose).

I am really scratching my head over this...

If its a turbo model there's like 3 lines that connect down by the turbocharger itself. And 2 up near the airbox side.

Thats an interesting diagram,... Not sure what year that is, but Mine is different.

That shows Fuel Pressure Regulator at the Fuel Rail,... mine is on the frame below the firewall on the Passengers side.

My car has no Boost Gauge. And it has an PCV/oil trap under the manifold... EGR, I beleve in in the rear of the motor...

I dont recall any nipples on the upper innercooler tube.

Mine is a 1997 GLT Wagon (turbo motor)

Mine DOES have the solenoid that it shows on the right side of the radiator.... IT MAKE A TAPPING SOUND (I thought I had a BAD Valve Tap until I opened the hood and located the noise)... tap tap tap tap tap tap.... real fast.
I suppose it's working, but unusually noisy. Is there a fix for this or should it make that noise? pretty annoying.

BTW: What exactly is the "T-Pipe PCV" ??? It is showing to be located under the distributor, I guess near the boost solenoid, but I haven't seen it!?!!?

i AM STARTING TO MAKE SOME HEADWAY ON THE CAR. I replaced the coolant temp sensor today. and traced Vacuum lines - replacing dry rot, melted and broken ones.
The car is running better and better... almost drivable! :D
New Coil and Wires on the Way to go with the new Cap/Rotor and Plugs. I also hit the MAF with some CRC MAF Cleaner... That has REALLY helped as did the Seafoam treatment.

I LOVE this site. You guys are AWESOME!

"T-pipe (also known as the PTC)"
Image

That thing making all the racket is the EVAP purge valve. It may be bad if it's making that much noise - I have a square one on my 1998 (some also have a round valve), and it makes no noise at idle.

1995 and earlier 850's had the regulator under the fuel rail.

Glad you're making headway with it! Keep at it!

Yep! That's the one.

That elbow commonly cracks or falls off too, so double-check it!
