ODB II PO171

Post by LBourque »

OK so Iwas able to find and fix the PO455 ODB II code and check engine light came on after 300 or so miles and the code reader now says PO171. I'm leaning torwards the O2 sensors before and aft of the cat. converter. Anyone hve similar readings? The 98 XC V70 has been running fine all the while and it is idleing fine. Before I bust some knuckles I would sure like to hear from someone.
Thanks Lou

OBD II Volvo specific PO171 says, "Additative Over Time"
Since this code follows all the other O2 sensor codes on the list, I would guess it means there is to much time delay between the readings of the two sensors.

Generic OBD II PO171 says, "System too Lean (bank 1)"
That could point to a faulty front O2 sensor.

Sometimes too much information is as bad as not enough, but I would tend to agree that it's a sensor problem. Good luck.
