Hi everyone. I am battling a leak that developed when I removed my PNP switch (trying to correct the typical problem with it).
Apparently I disturbed the o-ring that seals my dipstick tube to the transmission....what a mess! So, I've got the new o-ring from the dealership, cleaned up the tube and the crud from around the hole, a little ATF on the o-ring to allow it to slide...and this fits like a hotdog in a hallway! Doesn't seem like this o-ring is touching the sides of the hole. It's almost identical to the old one (a little firmer and not "swollen", but the differences are negligible).
I certainly don't have confidence that it will seal correctly. Surely someone else has run into this before.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Well, I figured it out. Just needed to apply quite a bit more pressure and some vaseline. Not the funnest job ever, but at least it's done and will stop puking fluid.

In case anyone cares - no. I only had to remove upper turbo hose (for access) and then a nut holding a wiring harness clamp to the dip stick tube.IanF wrote:To get the new o-ring on, did you have to go through the whole battery removal process to get to the bracket retaining nut?
I was doing this on a Sunday and wasn't able to get the factory-correct o-ring, but I found an o-ring in a Help assortment that seems to be working. The old o-ring on the dipstick looked like a cut-off piece of hose and I doubt it was sealing much at all.
