Warm day = hard start.

Post by DWhyle »

During the recent spell of warm weather here in NW Indiana a problem has arisen on my '94 855t. In the morning with temps in the 50s and 60s it starts right up. Late afternoon after sitting at work all day with temps above 80 it starts hard. Takes about 20 seconds of cranking with it trying to catch before it finally fires, then it runs rough for about a minute before smoothing out. All starts after that are normal, even a if it's a couple hours later. Any ideas?

Get your hands on a voltmeter and test the engine coolant temp sensor for resistance.

Around 68 degrees you should show around 2800 ohms on a cool engine. If the value is way different from that, it's either throwing too much or too little fuel at the engine on a cold start.
