Looking for the location of the idiot light temperature sending unit - not the one for the temp gauge - there seems to be another one just for the idiot light and apparently it is really hidden well - is it under the intake manifold?

You are probably talking about the ambient temp sensor......if so...it is located by the condensor....on the bottom next to the spoiler.
