My 91 740 Wagon, parts made in Japan, $$$$$ Why?
I went to get an alternator for my 91 740 NON-turbo, wagon and it was a special order an almost twice as much. It was made by a Japanese company. She said my car was that 1% that Volvo built like this. What does this mean? Even the plugs I bought that said were for my model don't fit. Could these be another special order? Help me understand what this means for my car. Anything particular or special about my car? I was gonna sell it but now I'm not so sure. Any history or details that you can provide would be very appreiciated. Thank you.

Some 740s were built with a Bosch alternator and some with a Nippon Denso alternator. Presumably this was due to supply. Looking at our sponsors' websites there is no great difference in the price between the two. eEuroparts have a rebuilt Denso 100amp alternator for $153.24 plus a core charge. IPD have a new Denso for $278.70.

How don't they fit? Wrong thread, wrong length?Even the plugs I bought that said were for my model don't fit.
