Fuel Filler Door came off...

Post by Deb »

When I got my gas tank filled this morning, the fuel filler door came off (it was the gas station attendant to did it).

Any ideas on HOW I can get it back on? Without having to take it to the dealer (almost impossible to do on a work day, and no Saturday hours).

Thanks!

Richardson Volvo in TX has ebay parts and a sie... I lost the door to my S80 due to stupidity and an auto car wash. I was able to follow diagrams and replace it like new with pliers, a rag, and some super glue. Total parts cost: $30 - Steve 801-898-2966.

Deb,

The plastic so called "hinge" always break. You will need that new plastic hinge. It's around $15, I think. It looks easy to replace but it can be tricky to replace, especially on S60 model. You have one shot to put the hinge on right. Put it in wrong will require another hinge and even can scratch the paint. If you want to give it a try, here is a tip: on this model, PUT THE NEW HINGE ON THE LID FIRST...THEN INSTALL THE HINGLE ONTO THE CAR.

My advise to you is let the an expert put it on and remind him to be careful not to scratch your paint while doing it

The same thing happened to me...Hit the release. Opened the fuel door. It fell on the ground in front of me. The car was still under warranty, and I managed to convince them to replace the hinge for free.
