aw55-50sn Brew your own?

Post by Chassis »

Hi All, my first post to this forum...

Do any of you know the differences between p/n 9482025 and 8636081 in more detail? My car is a V70N 2.4T MY2000 (probably built spring 2000). It has the 9482025 with Geartronic. It is drivable but just barely  Now I can get a hold of a 8636081 (w/o Geartronic) in an assumingly good shape.
Would it be possible to use that as a mechanical base and combine it with whatever it takes to fit my car?
Differences I can think of are valvbodies, converters, sensors... Are there more?

Some specific questions:
Is the Geartronic part of the tranny itself or a feature residing in the TCM?
Is it possible to swap to another valvebody? Will it mechanically fit?
Are there any electronics in the tranny that will stop experiments like this? (= disliked by TCM)
Are the ratios the same (also a matter for TCM)
What about other differences?

The ideal would of course be to have the list of how each Volvo AW55-50SN are built up (from what sub-p/n). On which http://www.hack.... dot-something... will I find that :D

AND Thanks for a great forum. Have been following MVS for a while and you are definitely one of the more serious.

Knowledge are superior to guessings

Greetings from Sweden (Former(?) homeland of Volvo)
