2005 XC70 Accident, A/C, Alarm Issues
I was involved in a hit and run, guy tore my front bumper off. Took the car to an isurance approved repair shop. When my wife went to pick up the car the battery was totally dead, tech said it was because the kid had the doors open while he detailed the car. The shop charged the battery and I picked the car up the next day only to find the bodywork was abysmal. The insurance company had it properly repaired at another shop. I picked the car up two days ago and apart from a strong smell of paint it seemed to run fine. Yesterday had to use the A\C in the 90 degree plus weather and notice that after switching the car off the A/C fan still ran. My wife drove the car today and said the A/C was not getting cold at all. She drove it home this evening, A/C still not working and the A/C fan continued to blow hard inside the car after she switched everything off. Just now she reports that the car alarm is sounding, the remote will not switch it off, the car appears to be dead with no lights etc, but the alarm does go off when she turns the key in the ignition. There is also a burning smell inside the car!! The bumper was torn off from the driver's side and the only part replaced were the bumper and left fog light. Any thoughts suggestions appreciated. When the original shop had the car we also had very hot weather so I think the kid detailing the car probably had all the doors open, the radio and A/C blasting. What else would kill a battery that is a year old? and would any of this cause the issues I am having right now. I will try to get it to the shop in the morning, but will it be safe to drive or just acll AAA? Thank you
