aftermarket radio wire harness
aftermarket radio wire harness
I have a 98 v70 R that I would Like to replace the stock radio it is the pro logic 3cd changer with amp outputs but i can not find the right wire harness for an aftermarket radio. the stock radio has several connections in cluding amp connectors. Any ideas would be great, thanks
Why not try a Stereo Installation Shop...Just ask them, and they'll tell you which harness to buy...Buy it from them, if its not way too much. Did you try sites like Crutchfield, which will show the pieces and parts, as well as the prices?,,,and I'm sure there are other aftermarket onlines.

This is the type of harness that will make your installation plug-N-play:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AFTERMARKET-STE ... 4cf507a9cd
Most shops will probably tell you it's "No Problem" so they can sell you an HU,
then the 18 year old installer will get into your dash and hit a brick wall.
Crutchfield has some great upsides, but since there's little market density for
older Volvos, they don't have much for technical support for these cars.
The good news is that it's a pretty easy installation. The kit in the eBay link
will provide you with a power connection and an adapter cable for the OEM amp.
Everything will just plug right in. The second connector in the OEM HU that only
has 1 wire provides a speed signal for the stock stereo's auto volume feature.
Be sure to connect the power antenna wires so that your antenna amplifier
will work correctly. You'll have an extra, smaller antenna coax connector, too.
No Biggie. That's for the diversity tuning supported by the OEM Volvo/Alpine HU.
There are very few aftermarket HU's out there that'll support a center channel
without widening the scope of your installation. FWIW, the 2 wire green connector
on the back of your OEM HU is the center dash speaker. Good luck finding an HU.
So, pretty much, the only things you'll need are the "A" connector for power,
the AMP and main antenna - the 3 connections marked in red:

so if I understand your post I will still need another harness say from crutchfield to hook up the speakers? I am sorry for my ignorance but I am used to hooking HU the old school way....slash the connectors and hunt and find the right wire wich takes hours lol

No - To keep it simple, just use the preamp level RCA outputs from
the new HU to run the existing stock amp. More info here:
