Volvo Repair Database Remote for DVD RSE System

Post by jewrican »

I have the in console system and need a remote. Anyone know where to buy one?

Has anyone gotten a universal to work with it?

Does anyone have a remote that they can get codes from and send to me to program my own universal remote?

Thanks for any help you can give. These things are rare unless you want to drop a hundred bucks on it ha ha.

Hi Jewrican,
The remote only cost me $85.95 from myvolvopartsonline.com, but I get to send that back because... I found that a universal remote WILL work. While waiting for this part to arrive on our road trip I had my daughter do a brute-force search through the list of codes (kept her busy without movies). She got the system to turn on by emulating a JVC DVD player remote. The code for the JVC's will be in the instructions with your $9.95 universal remote. Hopefully that will save a few forum members HOURS of work and about $80!

One caveat - she says the eject button is the only one that doesn't work on the remote...HOWEVER, she doesn't want that on there anyway because she had accidentally bumped it a couple of times on the OEM remote in the dark/fumbling and it really disrupts a movie. Once the unit is powered on, the console buttons will work from then on (including the eject button) unless you have a bad wiring harness in which case these tricks may not work. In fact nothing might work but a new $600 harness, or tedious splicing. If you really want the eject to work on a remote control you might have to look through the other JVC codes, or buy a low-end universal that can "learn" any button - but that'll require having the OEM remote to learn from or a dealer willing to let you just use the remote for a minute. You really don't need the eject button on your remote though.

I've also not checked what was lost like audio settings / brightness /etc that might be on the OEM remote. All I know is that the basic functions worked and it got us in the movie business again for the return portion of our trip. Even if this doesn't give you all the menu functions you want now you know how to solve the problem of a lost remote while on a road trip.

Happy trails.

I purchased a universal remote at Harbor Frieght, for $7.00. Used a JVC code (0443) and it works. On my XC90 2006.
Anyone to this problem, get it a try.

I tried the same with a universal remote control, without success. Google helped me out and I found what I needed at: https://www.remote-control-world.eu/vol ... te-p-14127. Only 15 Euro/US dollars.
Received it today (after 10 days shipping time) and it workes perfectly well. They have nearly every remote control you need.
