960 runs on 4 cylinders under 2k rpm

I have a '94 960 with 180K miles. At rpm's under 2K I loose 2 cylinders and the car runs only on 4 cylinders. Above 2K rpm the engine runs on all 6. Any ideas on the problem? thanks.
