Seeing some really useful talk here, I figured I also needed to join this forum...
I'm having issues with my 1999 C70 convertible:
It started with a clicking sound when opening and closing the roof. Later I figured this was probably slipping cog wheels or something like that. Then the roof started to get stuck mid-opening/closing. No response from the button, sometimes only one way, and finally it closed again, but not fully.
So I opened it up manually, and discovered that the arms were asymmetrically extended (slipping cogs?). I figured out how to fix the asymmetry by disconnecting the motor drive axle from the cog-wheel box and manually changing the extension of the arms. strangely enough, when the extension is identical to the 1/10 mm, the rear left side still leaves a gap of about 1-2 cm. Increasing or decreasing the arm's extension there does not seem to influence this.
Even more strange is that now the whole automatic system fails to respond. The button doesn't do anything anymore. Does anybody know how to "reset" the electrical system, motors and warning beep? If I just need to clear the error codes, I can wait for the OBD2 interface I just ordered... The user manual states that when the roof has been closed manually, the motors can be switched off, and to switch them on, the locking control point (right hole in the back, for manual control) needs to be switched to its neutral position. I did this, but still there does not seem to be a response. Even the front is now locked in position, which earlier still functioned properly.
Can anybody help me identify all bolts, nuts, screws etc I can turn which have an effect on the position of the roof? Pictures would be great!
