I have a Volvo 940 wagon, 1994 with 232,000 miles, made for the US.
Last night the driver's window stopping rolling up when I hit the switch, but it does roll down. I pulled out the switch box, and tried connecting the wires to the other windows' switches on the drivers controls, but it still won't go up (I didn't bother to test if it still went down).
One interesting thing, maybe a red herring, is if I connect the passenger windows wires to the drivers side switch it won't roll up either using that switch, or the switch on the passenger door. If I connect the passenger wires to a rear window switch there is no issue.
I was hoping I could purchase a new switch, but the fact that switching the driver's wires to a different switch doesn't work makes me wonder if a new switch will work. Though the fact the switch doesn't work with the passenger door gives me a little hope.
Any ideas on a cause and fix? I haven't been able to disassemble the housing for the switches, but have only removed the plastic that holds the wires in place. If you have any pointers on taking this apart so I can get the switches out, which I assume will be necessary, I will appreciate it.

i have this problem on my 1990 960 on the passenger rear window. it would go down no problem but some times not up.
tryed new switches (bought 7 lighted switches)
but found out when i opend the door it would some times work. so when I wickled with the rubber grumment that houses the wires it would work again.
