Need Help Des Moines, IA, USA - Many things

Post by pwgus »

Well, I'm new to the volvo. I'm used to much simpler cars, mostly Mazdas and Fords which I know and love, but a volvo found its way into my life as a daily driver for a very cheap price...so I would like to make sure it is in the best condition for that. Mostly lots and lots of glitches, though every once in a while I just find I've done something wrong or not figured out how to properly operate a "fancy" ;) feature on the car. I guess familiarity.

Right rear wheel makes a funny sound like the brakes warning they are low, but brakes pads are almost full. Sometimes engine doesnt really want to even try to turn over, so I take out key and try again and it works fine....not really sure on that. Usual head light wiper woes I think. Sounds like I have a sticky lifter or something, though most engines usually run great in spite of this so thats not a big concern. A once over for things to know or fix that I may have missed that are unique to this car would be helpfull. Practical tips on knowing how to dissassemble things the easiest way is helpfull.

Maybe I'm babying too much, I'm not sure. I'm sure I'll get it all figured out eventually, but this type of car I am very unfamiliar with so a little mentoring would shure be great.
