2002 S40 -- is it tranny failure?
2002 S40 -- is it tranny failure?
K apparently I have the worst luck with all vehicles! I own a 2002 S40 turbo 1.9lt. I recently put new tires on the back and drove from Bellingham, WA to eastern Washington about 350 miles for vacations the car had 120thousand miles when I bought it and I have put a lot on since. (bought in February 2012) during the vacation I lost a bolt from a caliber in the rear slotted brake. ugh! also i have had a small leak in the turbo exhaust that makes it sound like i need oil terribly when i first start it although it doesn't seem to burn oil and now for the final and most disturbing I was seem to be experiencing a miss/or slip if you will...so after taking the dodge truck we bought off craigslist to the mechanic for a knocking in the engine!! we discovered two days after buying!! (yes i said bad luck) on the way back going about 70 mph hit something off another car, with nowhere to pull of had to drag it before a ways before stopping, and now the car makes an awful attempt to accelerate and I'm terrible sad to say it could be a blown tranny!!! ugh!! tell me it could be anything else!! please!!!

Slip/miss? I can give you the 850/S70/V70 test: has the transmission fluid ever been changed? Is it brown and burnt smelling? Low or high? How many miles on the car?

So I took my volvo to the local dealership in Bellingham, Wa. They say its a miss fire. This was on Monday morning and they said they would call in an hour with an inspection report...got the call at 5pm (dropped car at 8:30am). There conclusion was a miss fire. They said new spark plugs and wires and that I should probably replace the coils as well...total cost 603$ included labor, parts and overnight shipping on the coils. Then they call the next day to tell me they had ordered the wrong part and that it would be another day. Its now friday and they called to tell me that it still is miss firing even with the new parts and they are going to run some compresion tests? Hopefully they will have it figured out by Monday? So does this mean I am going to have to pay a ton more money? How should I address this whenever I finally get to payment time?
