S90, 1997 brake light (passenger side) not working

Post by Chwee »

would be grateful for advice - it is not the light bulb, not sure what else to do apart from paying the volvo mechanic to give me his expert opinion (can't afford it). there is no corrosion on the light bulb holder. thanks!

You can check the switch. I pulled the switch and used a volt meter to verify it was working properly. You will need to follow the wiring diagram carefully.

The other place to check is the two contacts on the back of each of the amber bulbs. the solder gets hot and get's smooshed by the contacts in the plug. They can come together and cause a short.

Once these are ruled out, the rest is not so fun...

Check the bulb again. I have found that cheep bulbs made in China don't always make good contact.
