XC90 Air Intake Hose Leak at PTC Valve

Post by WellingtonX »

I am slowly getting my 2005 XC90 2.5L AWD 135K km, back to where I want it to be. Lots of little things but I am making progress and I'll write up my other two threads when I am done.

I built a small smoke generator today as I wanted to see if I still had any vacuum leaks. Well it worked rather well and I spotted a leak around the PTC valve on air intake hose. It was definitely leaking from around there. There is a small hose there from the PVC system (I think) and it may have been leaking around the plastic nipple but I suspect the PTC valve.

I have been on the net and can see the PTC valve is held in place with a rubber gromnet. That looks to me to be the likely problem.

I've been on the regular Volvo parts sites but although I can find the complete hose and PTC in place I can't find just the grommet or the PTC valve and grommet. Does anyone know if I can purchase the grommet or do I have to purchase the whole air intake hose. Are there any other potential repairs?

Thanks in advance

It is not possible to purchase just the grommet and valve. The assembly is tricky and removal of a valve and grommet in situ and then replacement while the air intake hose is in place may lead to leaks if you don't get it to re-seat properly. Read the above post to get an update on where I am now.
