How does the older Saab compare to the older Volvo. I'm thinking the 900 series. Is the Saab a similar type car in that you need to learn its quirks and foibles to work on it? Is there an MVS type site (high quality, lots of real knowledge) for the Saab.
I know they are orphaned now but I actually like the looks of the old 99's, 900's and even some 9/3's. I was thinking to get one as toy once I sell my old Mazda. They'll go a boat-load of miles if properly maintained right?

900's are amazing cars. Very quirky, very hard to find parts for.
Electrical problems GALORE. Random bits and pieces of the car work when they want to, but never keep it from running.
Like Volvos, things go wrong often, but they're very rewarding to drive, and there are great forums out there like this one with lots of people that will help you out.
Go for the Turbo or a 16V. The 8V is the slowest thing in the world (I had one). It had over 300,000 miles on the motor before it threw a rod or something of the sort.
I really wish I had room for another old car. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
