Hi all,
I am looking for a used winter tire package for my 1999 V70 GLT on Kijij. Have been doing some research for the past few days and I'm still not sure what is the correct spec for rim/wheel/tire?
Winter tire size: 195/60/R15 or 195/65/R15?
Bolt Pattern: 5x108 mm
Offset: 34-45 mm ?
Center Bore: ?
Backspacing: ?
Also, I was told that hub-centric are better than lug-centric, but most of the aftermarket rims are lug-centric because they are built to fit wheel hubs of various sizes. So, do I need to buy an extra ring (or adapter) for lug-centric rims?
Thanks in advance!
Phil

Centre bore is 65mm . Backspacing is the same as offset; just a different term The owner's manual states 195/60/15 as correct Winter tyre size.
Always have adapter rings made for wheels that have a larger centre bore as wheel studs are there to keep the wheel pressed against the hub. The centre bore's job is to stop the wheel moving away from centre.

Thanks for your reply Doyle.
Now I'm getting more confused, the 1999 Owner's Manual says the following:
Volvo recommends 185/65 R15 winter tires on 15" wheels on all front wheel drive S/V 70 models including models equipped with 16" or 17" wheels.

A 185/65/15 gives you the same rolling diameter as 195/60/15, however the 185 series gives you slightly more room for chains.
What the manual states is correct. If the 16" or 17" wheel is fitted (either because it's a T5 or R series or the wheels were ordered at the dealer as an option) you must use another wheel/tire combination of 15" diameter because the larger wheels won't accomodate chains.

My 1998 V70 was totaled last week.
I have a set of winter tires already mounted on Cetus wheels sitting around.
Too bad you don't live closer otherwise we can talk about this.
I have a few sisters in Toronto, but I live in Omaha NE.

195 is stock. The reason they recommend 185 is that: narrower tires seem to cut through snow better.
Of course, not everyone agrees to this hypothesis.

195/65/15s shouldn't be used. They have a 6% larger height throwing the speedo right out and giving clearance problems with the guard liners on full lock. Stick with 60 series and you'll be fine.

I have a 1999 v70R can someone tell me what my wheel width is? I know its 16" high but how wide? I wanna put subtle deep dish wheelswheels on it while maintaining oem specs for obvious reasons.
