Heater Core S40

Bought a 2001 S40 and didn't notice until too late that the Heater had been by passed in the Engine compartment.
I would assume that was because of a Heater Core leak. I have seen sites that show 850 Core replacements, but not the S40. Also, the Core price aftermarket seems to be +$400 vs. $150 for most other models. How hard is it to replace?
