surging idle and stalling sometimes
on the way home. i notices i hit the gas and it started bogging almost died. then i got home i was took valve cover of. and the little cost that connects to the vent hole came loose and oil spilled in the holes and 2 spark plugs got soaked with oil, so i thought it was that, so i took them out dried them cleaned all the oil, put it back and it was almost worst. so i notice bottom turbo hose off, so i put that on. now its better and insead of dieing when i hit gas it stutters for a sec and works almost fine then when it gets to 1000 it dips and bounces, check icl, is working... think its spark plug? there copper and there at least 6 months old. please help have to drive to work everyday. sry for bad type on my way to work in a rush

If it was running with the hose blown off for some time, 1) check for any others that may be loose at the clamps/throttle body and 2) you may need a computer reset. Disconnect the negative battery cable, mash the brake pedal a few times, and then reconnect. Idle will act weird at first, but it will smooth out within 2-3 drive cycles if everything else is working OK.

OK here is the deal. the pcv was just done a couple months ago. there's no blow-by out the dipstick... Anyways jack when it started i didn't realize the bottom inter cooler hose blew off. Cause the vent hose under the valve cover blew of to, and it spilled oil in #2 and #3 and when i took all the spark plugs out and cleaned them with a toothbrush, the gap looked OK maybe a little small... cause i didn't have my gap tool i also banged them very lightly to lower the gap, i bet this is the reason. So i put the plugs back in, cleaned all the oil... and it seemed worse. so i took a ride and saw i wasn't getting no boost. so I reattached the bottom inter cooler hose, and the surging went away. Now its just like a quick stutter or a move up and down a couple thousand, its not that bad now. So i think if i get new spark plugs and gap them to 28 and put them in and reset the computer i should be OK.. But for some reason the vent hose on top keeps coming off no matter what, i was tightening it with a screw driver then even with a socket, and still fell off. 2 worm hose clamps just kept spinning they didn't get all the way tight. Or one of them was getting tight then just kept spinning. So i wonder why it keeps coming of if there's no smoke out the dip. URO hoses for ya! I still got my old one, the top part so if i cant get this one to stay on ill try that with a new clamp. But its bothering me bad that that hose keeps coming of and getting oil. Even when i drive light. And i found a tear in the elbow to another piece that is on top of the fan that slides in the plastic. So i cut and replaced that.. Anyways sorry for the long post just wanted to list all the problems. And i blew out the maf, icv, and blew out all the cylinders and all the oil away.

Perhaps the oil is drowning your spark plugs, but mine didn't seem to have a problem firing even when the entire spark plug well was filled to the top with oil. It sounds like perhaps there's another air leak in a hose somewhere.
Yeah, the URO hoses are a pain - I couldn't get that same hose to stay on after the clamp had squished down the hose already. It took wiggling the clamp on at the lowest point I could possibly get it, and then about an hour of just futzing with that clamp and having it pop off again to get it to actually stay on. If you can't get it, just take an hour or so, take off the intake manifold, and rip that URO junk out of it.

Turns out it was the spark plugs. Not cause the oil, but cause of the gap was 2 small and 2 of them couldn't even fit the spark plug gapper lol. Anyways i got some new Bosch super plus coppers, started her up and bam running like a beast now. got some new ring worm hose stripped about 3, watched the rest slowly lift up. i tried to put the clam so it was all the way down and pull the rubber just a lil so the clamp can touch the metal cause it wont grip through the rubber, but still no luck, But the pressure was bad when the spark plugs were misgaped causing it to blow oil off, and now its not a quarter as bad but it still does it when i romp it hard. but the guy at auto-zone said i can get a oetiker clamp or however you spell it. I need a clamp that i can tighten the piss out of, any suggestions. I no the oetiker clamps are good cause my high pressure oil hoses are on by those. I dunno but i am glad it was just problem with spark plug gap!

Cool, glad you fixed that one.
I Believe even with an Oetiker clamp (like many others on the Volvo already there), you're still gonna have problems with that hose staying on. The metal port it grips is easy for it to slip off, and something about that hose just makes it so it doesn't have much to grab on to.

well i hope not, because i must of put this hose on 20+ times for it to fall off.. I don't understand how it lasted the 6+ months it did, if it even did lol. i actually kept my old hose but tried to take the top of and it broke. anyways i got a single ear pinch clamp from home depot i was gonna try to squeeze it tight with a pair of snips.. The ones i have at work look just like the special pliers they use so it should work right? I am gonna put a piece of metal from another clamp in there so it completes the circle and try to pinch it shut. hopefully it works cause i am at a lose for this and def don't want to take of the manifold and the hose is about to tear so is there any super clamps i can make or get? There's gotta be something, i was looking on you tube and there was a couple videos making them with pallet strap witch i have at my work to so i dunno. any help would be appreciated.

ok well i failed with the pinch clamp cause it had a space it didn't have the metal going all the way around. anyways i need to no the size clamp i need so i can order one like this.... http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Catal ... 0361065400 would this size work? this problem is really making me mad and the hose is getting messed up. I am just gonna try a better clamp if that don't work ill make my own hose and cut the euro and connect it with a piece of plastic. but i would rather just put a clamp and have it stay! O and my bottom inter cooler silicon from ipd kit fell off again, and i noticed its real soft and spongy, is it already on its way out or what! This is crazy these hoses! ughhh! lol

wow i love it i went to auto zone now nappa witch was supposed to have all these assortments of clamps according online but when i get there they don't have jack! Do you think i can just take a hose connect it to the metal vent and cut a little from there euro hose and connect them with a piece of plastic pipe in the middle with 2 clamps? cause there's something wrong with the way that thing sits on there and its just impossible with the incorrect clamp. if any one can give me a website with some heavy duty t bolt clamps or the ones were they got the screw and bolt so u can get good torque. Please i need something quick!!!!
