installation of aftermarket radio

Post by mpetrovic »

hello all, i am curious to know if by chance anyone knows if i can get (from a website most likely) a new dash board faceplate for installing an aftermarket radio, i have the head unit it is a double din Sony touch screen. pretty much what i want to do is just replace the radio and not have it look all hacky. id prefer to have something made for my car specifically and not some crappy looking universal adaption kit. any help would be appreciated. i have a 2001 v70xc with just the basic radio and cassette player. anyone have experience with doing this?

I don't know exactly where to get them, as I have one but long forget the site I got it from.

Search things like 'V70 Double Din Faceplate' or 'V70 Double Din Fascia' will give various starting points. There appears to be a legit Volvo part too so could check with the dealer, although what I have is aftermarket, but still fits pretty well.

The 2001 are apparently harder to find, see http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=147914 for details.

Example of double-DIN: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... -Faceplate

You could try bestkits.com. That's where the future shop gets all there harnesses, adapters and such. But then again I've never been impressed with Future shop, buts it's worth a try.

You'll have to get an interface so the steering wheel controls will work with the radio. As for the faceplate adaptor, you can find them online. Best bet is Crutchfield.
